Aashish Sonawala is a global aviation-finance leader with over three decades of experience spanning aircraft leasing, OEM partnerships, and asset management.
As Managing Director and Head of Emerging Markets at Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), he led the company’s commercial transformation post-Chapter 11, driving portfolio restructuring, profitability, and expansion across APAC, MEA, and LATAM. Based in Singapore, Aashish also spearheaded NAC’s strategic presence in Asia and the Middle East, building relationships with regulators and serving on the NAC Singapore Board.
Before NAC, Aashish spent 18 years with GECAS, the world’s largest aircraft and engine lessor, closing more than 250 aircraft and engine transactions valued over US$4 billion. His leadership helped forge landmark partnerships with global OEMs including Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, GE Aviation, and Pratt & Whitney.
Prior to GECAS he pioneered GE Aviation’s India operations from a small outpost to a significant business.
A US citizen based in Singapore, Aashish holds degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Oregon State University and an MBA from Boston University. He serves on the IFSCA GIFT CITY Aircraft Leasing Committee and advises several aviation and leasing organisations.
